I was wondering if anyone has seen or remembers reading about an extra island on the Hawaii State Quarter? I remember reading a article about it but now I can not find anything about it. If anyone has found one if you could post a pic.

I believe the extra island refers to the Eisenhower dollar.

Any "extra" island should be due solely to a die chip

Bill069 would be correct in reference to the 1972 Ike types

I believe it is a die chip. If I can get a different camera with better zoom, I will post a pic. I noticed a spot in between the first two islands on a roll of Hawaii quarters that caught my attention. The spot is almost as big as an island.
