For those who do not subscribe to the above and below bi-weekly publication, pick one up. (Chapters Indigo etc).
There's a good article in there (July 21st-Aug3) on how the RCMP are going to California and advise ebay that they can be charged under section 450C, specific to the importation of counterfeit money. 14 years in jail, also people in possession of this material can also be charged.
It seems the Chinese Govt does nothing about it, as their law states that people can make replica (hack hack) coins providing they are specific to coins prior to 1949. We all know what happened in China in 1949.
Im really surprised they don't amend this law, seeing China takes great pride in taking away the liberties of their citizens.
Regardless, buy a subscription to this magazine. Its cheap, fun to read and if you buy a 2 years subscription
they will throw in a silver maple leaf.

Hmm , slightly off topic, but on their home page they have five numismatic links and none of them are for the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association ... am I missing something?
I have subscribed to this publication in the past and it's definitely worth the money for anyone interested in Canadian numismatics.

That's really interesting about the fakes ... I'll have to check this issue out. Thanks Dollar1948.

I believe that the RCMP was successful. However, I think they called Salt Lake City. Check ebay for "Replica" Canadian coins if you like! :-) OH BY THE WAY. Thanks for having me on the site.

Well thats good to know they got some action. It also said that Ebays head office is in California. Regardless where they went, my fear is that the market may be so saturated with these peices of junk that the damage may have been done.

I understand the RCMP is going to take a lead role in Education. Starting at the RCNA in Edmonton next month.

Im glad that finally the Mounties are doing something.
I belong to another forum, and the members are claiming all 'replica' Canadian coins have been pulled off ebay.
The Mounties really dragged their feet on this, and it took alot of squawking by a member by the name of Mike Marshall that spearheaded the whole effort on behalf of collectors/dealers.
I hope RCNA recognizes his effort in some manner.

Well HHB, I guess we better go to the RCNA and learn from the RCMP? Then drive ebay nuts reporting fake coins.
