Roman Coin To ID | Pautalia Provincial

I think it's a Roman Provincial, rather than mainstream Roman. What I can see of the text appears to be Greek.

The Greek on the reverse reads "PAVTAL", so it's most likely to be from the city of Pautalia, in Thrace (the modern-day town of Kyustendil, Bulgaria).

I couldn't find an exact match for your coin, and I'm not quite sure what the thing on the reverse is supposed to be, but Here's the Wildwinds page for the city.

The city was known for it's hot springs and it's wine; the unknown object may have had something to do with either industry. I think it's a snake coiled up sitting on top of an altar, similar to this one, listed under Caracalla about halfway down the page I linked to above, but your emperor is bearded. I can't read the emperor's name (all I can read is his titles AV KAI), but it's probably Septimus Severus, possibly Commodus or an earlier emperor.
