I have been using e Z est coin cleaner as a quick dip on Lincoln Cents and was wondering how it compares to Acetone? I know not to use nail polish remover and to use 100% acetone and was wondering if there is different grades of 100% acetone and where to get some at a good price. I have looked at Home Depot and Menard's and Lowe's and they cost around $7.00 a quart, is this a good grade of acetone? Thank you in advance.

Yes that is about what the price is in most places lately. Don't know why but seams like the price went up substantially lately. Same with Laquer Thinner, Paint Thinners, even denatured Alcohol at places like Walmart, Menards, Home Depot, Kmart, etc. Might be a conspiracy since so many people use these chemicals lately.
Some people go to chemical supply houses for chemical graded Acetone. In reality almost all pure Acetones are the same. The only problem is in shelf life and the organization that produced the can it comes in. If the inner lining was not properly done or not thick enough, there is a possibility of some slight contamination in the purity of the Acetone.
However, it's easy to test. Just take any very clean, clear glass dish, place some of the Acetone on it and allow it to completely evaporate. If there is any residue, especially a whitesh haze, discard the rest of use for paining purposes. If no residue, it's pure.
Lately I'm afraid to purchase anything in my area due to the outrageous sales taxes. Getting so the taxes are the same as the cost of the items.

There really is no comparison of acetone with E-Z-Est since they are two completely different chemicals. Acetone is an organic solvent and will only remove organic material such as PVC residue, finger grease, and dirts. Acetone will not react with coinage metal and will not harm luster or toning. E-Z-Est aka Jeweluster is a commercial cleaning compound composed of thiourea and sulfuric acid. E-Z-Est is commonly referred to as "dip" and it will remove luster and toning and make silver and nickel unnaturally white; it should never be used with copper because that is the best way to wind up with pink pennies Dipping can help in a few cases with silver coins but in too many instances, the user will overdip and not rinse resulting in an obviously cleaned coin

Only one of the two substances mentioned is considered an acceptable form of coin conservation.
