I've bought the last few editions of C & B and there seems to be no mention of any Adelaide coin shows (nor coin clubs for that matter). Does anyone know if there are any shows here in lil' old Adelaide?

What a good question.
Let me first say that I visited Adelaide, and it's the most beautiful city in Australia (a well kept secret). I think there must be a show, because the Royal Australian Mint use to take a portable press to the "Adelaide show", but it seems ANDA doesn't organise it.
Here is an old list of the ANDA shows. Sydney 5th to 7th August 2005 - Lower Town Hall, Druitt Street, Sydney NSW. Melbourne 21st to 23rd October 2005 - Melbourne Park Function Centre Canberra February 2006 (Show dates and venue to be announced shortly) Perth 18th & 19th March 2006- Burswood Casino, Perth, W.A. Sydney 7th to 9th April 2006 - Randwick Racecourse, Randwick, NSW Brisbane 19th to 21st May 2006 - RNA Show Ground, Fortitude Valley, QLD Sydney 25th to 27th August 2006 - Randwick Racecourse, Randwick, NSW Melbourne 13th to 15th October 2006 - Melbourne Park Function Centre, Melbourne VIC Brisbane 25th to 27th May 2007 - RNA Show Ground, Fortitude Valley, QLD Sydney 10th to 12th August 2007 - Randwick Racecourse Melbourne 12th to 14th October 2007 - Melbourne Park Function Centre, Melbourne VIC

You're right, mnemtsas - there aren't any coin shows listed for Adelaide at all in the CAB directory. And here I thought Brisbane was doing it tough! There are, however, some coin clubs in South Australia listed in CAB:
Numismatic Society of South Australia (Adelaide) Yorke Peninsula Collectables Club (Kadina: Mick Vort-Ronald's group)
There used to be an "Adelaide Coin Club" but there's nothing in CAB and nothing recent on Google, so they may have folded.
I don't know if the NSSA organises regular coin shows, but they do organize a regular numismatic convention jointly with the NAV in Victoria.
ANDA Shows are: Brisbane, Sydney (twice, though I think the second one is under review) and Melbourne every year. They also seem to do a couple of other cities on a semi-regular basis eg. Canberra, Perth, Hobart and Adelaide.
Contact someone in the NSSA and they'll clue you in on the local scene better than we can.

Great info, thanks. I've found the meeting place/times of the NSSA and will be trundling along soon. Negotiations have also started with my significant other to go to a show in Brisvegas or Sydney. Followed by a two or three day lay over to keep her happy too......

If you're coming to Brisbane, the ANDA one next month is the only one worth making the trip for. The APTA show is stamp-oriented and normally a bit of a fizzer as far as coins go.

OK. We've just found out my wife is pregnant with our second kid so a quick trip up to Brissie may well be in order before the morning sickness sets in. Could be very nice timing!

There has been some talk that the protable press will not be at the brisbane ANDA show but will come later in the year at the EKKA (agriculiture show)

Personally I don't believe it for a second, why would the ram mis a COIN show in favour of some other show. Doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for the kind wishes. The trip up to Brisbane looks like it's on. How far are the show grounds from the CBD?

A short bus trip. About 5 minutes travel time once you get on the bus. Although, it is not very well signed and it's about a block or two off the main street. It might be easier to take a taxi to get you there first time. Be sure to download a cupon to save $5 each on the entry price. http://www.anda.com.au/publications...sbColour.pdf
