Nice coin Moe! This one looks more likely to be genuine than the other one you posted, but still definitely worth sending in to be sure. There are some very good die struck fakes out there for these as well. The only thing that has me a tad concerned is the dentical at 10oclock reverse doesn't look right, but it is probably just the photos or a post mint ding. It's just tough to say, because there are many fakes that would easily get past me.

All that said, the coin looks essentially problem free to me. It looks to have lots of luster, and should grade AU-58 at minimum imho, maybe even lower end mint state.

It looks to me like this coin has little to no wear. I would call it AU-58, but would not be surpised to see it in a ANACS MS-60 or 61 slab.

Harlan J Berk classified this coin as:

Quote:
G$1, 1856, EF45, Type 3

I agree this coin may be a bit under-graded at this grade. (It makes up for the 1915 D Barber Half I posted earlier that appeared to be OVER-graded by the folks at Harlan J Berk...)

Yeah, I have an 1874 gold dollar that was graded AU-58 by NGC. It looks very similar to this coin as far as detail and luster is concerned. The strike is weak in places, just like mine....but yours is not even close to XF-45 for wear. Here is my au-58. The obverse almost looks identical.
