I bought a proof set today of the 09 Quarters and didnt bother to look till I got home....

On the Virgin Island Quarter there was a red dot on the coin itself to the left of the small bird under the U. This is my 2nd set I've bought so do I open it and try to clean it gently and just put them in 2x2's? Maybe one of the mint guys DNA? Any help would be great.

If you got it from a local dealer who you are in good with I would take it back and try and trade it. Could it possibly be on the case and not the coin?

I would bring it back to wherever you got it from. Tell them you didn't notive the defect until you got it home...if they are a reputable dealer they should replace ir for you. If they purchased it directly from themint, they can return it to the mint for a refund/replacement.

No Mike....... its on the coin, And it will be about 2 weeks before I can get over that way again to exchange it. I dont think he'll have a problem exchanging it, Its just.........There's a RED DOT on my quarter. And I'm guessing this has only happened to me :)

I bought a dozen Clad Proof Sets at the Denver Mint
for my co-workers. I checked each set thoroughly.
One of them had a bright red area on the obverse of
the Tyler Dollar, and I returned it the next day.

It looked like some sort of contaminant to me...

Return the Set a.s.a.p. .....

(I did of course keep a Set where the Native American
Dollar is missing almost all of its edge lettering! )
