About 5 years ago I purchased a coin from them. Two weeks ago I sent it to PCGS to be slabbed, it came back as CLEANED. Yikes!

What can I do? This coin was not represented as such. Will Stack's make good on it? After all this time? Anyone have this happen with stack's? I have a email in to them.

Thanks

Bruce

I don't have any. My intention was to photograph them all when they came back. They body bagged 4 out of 8 of my submissions. I am so mad it's not funny, but the other three non-grades were justifiable. Just wondering how stacks handles such a thing. :(

Why wasn't it slabbed as PCGS Genuine?

The only reasons I see there for not slabbing a coin are:
"Peeling Lamination," "Not Genuine," and "PVC Residue"

A cleaned coin should be slabbed as "92.________"

I meant returned, unholdered. I wisely decided that if those pieces - any - didn;t grade, I'd return them to the dealer I bought them from. So when this happened - with Stack's, no less, - I contacted them. They want the coin back, and I will deal with them as far as 'making good'.

The gentleman told me a story of how a submitted coin came back as cleaned, an assessment which he agreed with. The consignor was livid (no doubt, lol - it was a 1795 Eagle). It was then resubmitted to the "other" service :) and graded out 5 points higher than the cataloguer had given for detail.

He went on to say that they (Stack's) are as frustrated with TPG's as we are, if not more.

Thanks for your replies.
