O.K., this is a strange feeling for a 47 year old man who has been around the world (12 years in the U.S. Navy), among other things, but I am stoked for next month! My first coin club meeting, followed by my first coin show. I feel like a little kid! Just wondering why I haven't found this hobby years ago, I love it! The Peace dollar book is almost half full, with a couple more coming. Weird to have one at my age...

Cool, ain't it? I was well on the wrong side of 40 when I got back into collecting; made me feel like a kid again.

There is a certain excitement about trying to find a special coin at a great price at coin shows. I love them.

Coin shows are terrific! It's like being in a candy store.

Sounds like the perfect comparison . My first coin show will be in about a month. I can't wait for it, because I hope I can find some Key date Trimes to fill in my Dansco 3CS & 20C Album. I just joined a coin club this June and it's been really fun. There is always a little auction at the meets, a door prize drawing, announcements, and coin dealers to buy coins from.

Ya, I'm excited. Not planning to bring a lot of cash, just want to get the feel of going for the first time. With my first club meeting right before, I might pick up some pointers...

brina: Heck I beat you by over a decade, and I still have milestones!
Without them, why do anything?
Good luck.

It's too early for our second childhood at age 40's, but never too late for coin collecting.

There is nothing like the first time, or the second time, or the third...
Who am I kidding? Every time will be a great time if you keep an open mind!
I have only been to a couple of bad coin shows, yet still managed to make something of them! It seems that there is always at least one interesting thing that I have never seen before to make me say "Yeah, I am glad I came!"
In my opinion, you will always have fun if you accept the possibility that you will only learn something and not find exactly what you are looking for that day!

Hmmmm, in order to have a second childhood, you have to be done with the first, right? I don't think there is a "second" for me, if that's the case.

I hope I find some F-EF Silver Trimes and 20 Cent Pieces at the coin show I am going to in September.
