I would say natural toning from the picture. Has the coin been cleaned? Here's a picture of a 1870 dime with abit of natural toning around the image, light blue and russet. My son has a very nice 1893 large cent toned and I will add pictures to this post when I track him down ( Should be no later than Monday as we are going quading for the day)

I agree .. none show artificial tonoing. Many of the mid-late teen large cents start with very uneven toning, almost like lines or brush strokes and they are quite common that way. The silver looks OK to me as well.

Hello,
The toning looks like a lot of slabbed (NGC and PCGS) MS RB cents of that time period that I have seen.

Hi, appears to be authentic, I've seen this type of toning consistently with borderline MS coins in Large cents of the King George V Era! Beautiful piece, if you wish to sell it, give me a jingle! Glenn Pinto

d23, This has nothing to do with coins, but everything to do with my education! What is "Quading"? BTW, that is a nice looking coin! Much niicer than mine. Dick

Hello Dick, Thanks for your comment on the coin. Quad is slang for ATV All Terrian Vechicle, had a great time on our atv's (quading) on the back trails, got to check out a bunch of new country etc. We spend the day, bring a big lunch, chain saw to saw any trees that have fallen over trails and average approx 80 to 100 miles of riding in a day.

d23, thanks for the explanation. I didn't relate to that, at all! I like running out in the "boonies, (boondocks), too. every time I went out, I also took my chainsaw, but I brought back all the timber I sawed up, for my wood stove! Suire beatts paying $100.00 for a cord of firewood, (and getting all kinds of junk wood, like cottonwood crap that smells to high-heaven, and doesn't heat all that good! I had to quit, tho, they took my drivers license away, just because I am legally blind! I still know hoew to drive. Dick

I don't know what the odds of two Quesnel residents posting on this forum are, but there it is. I had a Quesnel bidder on one of my ebay auctions quite a while ago, I'm wondering if that's you d23, or if you are someone else that I might know.

Hello 1cent, If you sold a book called Ghost Towns Of British Columbia I bought this book probably about a year ago on ebay from a seller in B.C. and then it was me, if you sold coins it would not be me as I have not purchased any coins. Are you from Quesnel also?
