So I do believe I have found my first counterfit coin. A suzy b that appears to be cast. At first I took it for a wide rim, but the edge is uniform silver color with no copper in it at all. It also makes a differnt sound when dropped, and has a smooth portion on the edge as if it was broken off a stem mold. I'll post pics tommorow. I think the reverse really gives it away.

Heres the reverse, notice how thick the rim is and the thickness of the letters in states and america. Ill post the obverse tommorow.

That one is new to me! A false Susan B Dollar!? I would not think they would be worth the trouble to counterfeit. If you could post a pic I would be interested in seeing it.

Whoa! Same reaction as cownas: who'd want to fake a SBA? Remember to take a pic of the edge, too!

Well, looks like I won't be buying any of those on ebay for a while.
Thanks Bio, I can think of a lot of coins that would be interesting and profitable conterfits,,,but the Susan B never entered my mind.

Ummmm. I think you would all be surprised how many commond date Walking Liberty halves there are or Barber Halves/Quarters/Dimes.

If you have more than a few in your collection, you most likely have at least one counterfeit.

Why? Because no one pays attention - they're much easier to pass off. How pulls out a 20x loupe for a 1944 Walker in VG condition?

I guess when your a crook you'll do anything.

Seems strange to counterfeit SBA or Sac dollars, but then nothing surprises me anymore.

All my walkers sound like silver, so if they are counterfeit, they used the right metal. Not really buying that I have any fakes on them.

Probably a good coin to counterfeit since a lot of people do not know what they look like.
