Hello,

Anyone here interested in New Zealand's decimal coins especially the die varieties coming out from the various Mints striking their coinage.

Following the reduction is size and change in metal type in 2006 we have to date:

2006 circulation coinsage 10c, 20c, 50c struck by Royal Canadian Mint
2006 set coinage $1, $2 struck by Royal Australian Mint

2007 circulation coinage 10c struck by Royal Canadian Mint
2007 set coinage 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2 struck by Royal Australian Mint

2008 circulation coinage 20c struck by Royal Canadian Mint
2008 circulation coinage $1, $2 struck by UK Royal Mint
2008 mint set coinage struck by UK Royal Mint

2009 circulation coinage 10c, 50c struck by Royal Canadian Mint ?
2009 set coinage 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2 struck by Perth Mint

Each Mint produces their own unique reverse and obverse dies. Therefore each year a different Mint strikes coins we have a type coin and each year two mints strike the circulation and mint set coins we have a two varieties for same year, same denomination.

Similar differences exist with the larger decimals 1967 - 2006 where more than one Mint struck coins.

Wayne

Edited to fix a couple of spelling mistakes.

I like New Zealand coinage. Have some pictures of what you've got?

Kiwi Bird, I will have to adjust file sizes and names before I can upload some images for you to see the die differences. Stay tuned. Thanks for your interest. Wayne
