I've got two 5 peso coins from Mexico from the 50's. They are .6431 ASW.

I can't figure out which book to put these in.

Where these circulating or just NCLT bullion pieces?

Circulating.

At least, the Krause catalogues give prices down to VF; that's usually a good sign that the coins were intended for circulation.

The Mexicans have always been keen to see silver coins circulate. Their silver lobby has been quite effective, in that regard.

I guess that a similar question could be asked about the Mexico 1947-1948
Cuauhtemoc five peso coin, which was larger than a US silver dollar.

As s former Mexico City resident, I'm sure that more than a few silver 5 pesos were happily accepted by Mexican cops as mordidas (bribes).
