papeldog Pillar of the Community Canada 1923 Posts	Posted 08/25/2009 4:52 pm This is another collection or hoard I've been trying to put together for some time now. They are 1968 silver proof like coins that no one seems to know a lot about other than it was only the 10 and 25 cent coins that were minted? But still very hard to find in the 2009 ICCS population report book there are only 15 silver PL 10 cent coins recorded and 9 silver PL 25 cent coins recorded. mkb Valued Member United States 324 Posts	Posted 08/25/2009 6:19 pm "They may say PL but did they come from PL Sets" To me, if a coin's finish that meets a particular definition for a finish, then that's what it should be. A coin should be called PL based on how it looks, and not where it came from. I have PL coins that have such a strong mirror surfaces, they look like Specimen coins of the period. I also have MS coins that look PL. And I have SP coins (from a Specimen sets) that look MS. There are coins minted today that have an SP finish, but are called MS. There are SP sets in the 1970's that have PL coins. SP coins of the late 1800's may only be MS or PL coins of the 1960's. Confused? Then you are not alone. It took me a while to sort these nuances out... Report this Post to the Staff
