I just bought a QX5 microscope and have been playing around with it. I think the triple strike I am looking at is because this is a proof coin and I know they are struck more then once. Just thought it was pretty cool. I can see it with a loupe on several parts of the coin, but the "2" is especially prominent. The feet, the base liberty is walking on and the date seem to be the only parts it is obvious.

For a cheap microscope, it is easy enough to use. The pictures are not the greatest but maybe as I go along, I'll get better at using it. Hmmmmmmm, lets see, what else can I put under the scope?

Margaret, are you correcting for white balance or are those pics straight off the QX5? Mine shoots with a definite blue cast that I have to correct in Photoshop - that's why I ask.

Dave I haven't corrected anything. These pics are just what the microscope took. I did play around with the "brightness" adjustment on the QX5 screen as I took these. The only lighting I used was the light on the microscope. I will be trying different things with it as I get used to working with it. I was a little disappointed with the sharpness but ya get what ya pay for. Maybe sometime I will invest in a really good one if I see a necessity. For now this is a learning thing. I haven't touched a microscope since high school!!!

Good luck with yours!
