thats probably a "die break". Cud's occur around the rim. still - fun to find odd things.

It's a die chip. "Die break" is a non-specific term denoting any kind of brittle fracture that leaves a void in the die face. A Cud is a die break; a die chip is a die break; an interior die break is a die break; a retained interior die break is a die break, etc.
