My latest batch of notes from family collection. There are a few German notes and a series of Taiwanese notes. My guesstimate is that the German bills are in the neighborhood of $4.00 each. Ballpark?

Also, the Taiwan notes are tough because they don't seem to have much of a web presence. Am I right in identifying them as 1950 Kinmen notes? They are virtually uncirculated and there is a series of consecutive serials for each. Where I could find them at all the values seemed to range from about $50 each to as much as $304. Guesses?

Finally, for the Kinmen notes and an earlier post with Korean won/hwan, I have a series of notes vs. just individual notes. Does it make sense to sell them individually or as a set?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, the Taiwan notes are 1950 series Jinmen (Kinmen) notes. For hard to find notes, you have a good collection if you have them in consecutive order. In the case of selling them as a set or individually, you can give bidders a good chance of owning a sample if you sell them individually. Although, to me, it would be hard to break them up since they are harder to find notes in consec. order and probably less chance of getting the price you want since not many are willing to pay big $$ for one note they only need. On the other hand, several bidders out there may bid high for the set...

There should be info about these notes, unfortunately just in Chinese.

So now I've done a little more research and it's difficult to find anything specific to these notes. However, what I have found suggests that the 50 Cent notes are fairly valuable, to the tune of approximately $2,400.00 US individually. Is that an accurate estimation?

I didn't tell if they are yellow or white notes, yours to judge...

Remember these are auction prices. Like US coins values on RedBook vs. ebay.....

I didn't translate the description on the notes though.

Not sure if people here in the US will pay for that price of $2000+, maybe? But, recently I have seen a steady demand of Chinese and Taiwan notes, my opinion though (because I haven't been winning the notes at my price haha.. seriously, I have notice prices a few dollars more since the year before).

I've been to a few local brokers and because they don't specialize in Asian currency they weren't very interested in doing the work to sell the notes. So now I'm thinking selling them online is the best way to go, but I'm not really sure what I will need in order to do that.

Would a numismatic auction house be the smartest way to go or something more specific like ebay Taiwan (I only speak English)?

Also, am I going to need better photos? Suggestions on how to do that are welcome.

Thanks.

You should try just ebay. There should be a lot of collectors that is willing to pay the money to get these samples. I have seen many go for several hundreds of dollars.

ruten.com.tw ( ebay Taiwan) or Yahoo Taiwan is going to be difficult. Chinese is going to be preferred. Plus registering is also difficult for ruten as you need some local phone number I believe.

Photos looks ok, as long as you can get more detail and less of the background.

I don't sell on ebay, only a few times.. maybe post something in the auctions section of this forum.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
