I was searching through some old pocket change and came across this 1957 Wheat penny which looks like its 9 is filled in. It's definately not the sharp looking nine you'd expect. I think the 5 also looks a little mis shapen. What is this? Did I finally find an error coin and is it worth anything? I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Here are some large closeup pics of the coin.

Is it worth anything or are die chips so common that it's really no big deal and therefore equal to 1 cent? The penny itself is in very good condition. In other words, is this special? Would it sell? Thanks for the replies!

Hi and Welcome,

They are extremely common on cents of the 1950s. The value is whatever the value of a 1957 cent is:-)

Thanks,
Bill
