G'day, beautiful medal; interesting provenance & packaging.

"banca metal" - can't find anything on Wikipedia; Google has at least one useful hit. If that is correct, "banca metal" is an alloy mostly composed of tin.
"Banca" might be the tin-producing island in Indonesia. The modern spelling is "Bangka". see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banka_Island

"... a coating of some good Gold Paint" - what a chakkenging combination of concepts.

Banca metal is a type of tin.
Melt 4 lbs. of copper, add. by degrees, 12 lbs. best quality Banca tin, 8 lbs. regulus of antimony, and 12 lbs. more of tin while the composition is in a melted state.
The tin used in the tin plate industry comes from several sources. The best of these is found in Australia and the Straits Settlements. The latter furnish the most desirable tin, known as Banca tin.

This piece sat on ebay with no bidders. $350.00
Heritage sold one in equal condition without the cigar tin for $299.00.
