Hello all,
I have a 1991 "one naira" nigeria coin?I assume
this means a dollar,on the side around the edges
it reads central bank of nigeria.the other is a
1999 dime republic of trinidad and tobago.I was
curious for any info on them.thanks,sn31.

The only information I could find on your 1991 1 Naira is that the coin is made of Nickel Plated Steel.
I drew a complete blank on the 1999 Trinidad and Tobago coin.

1991 NAIRA Reference does not show edge detail,, what is on the otherside of the coin ?

If it is this one KM #14 Nickel plated Steel ..it is listed at 1.75 UNC and 2.00 BU

Trinidad Tabago 10 Cent, Copper nickel KM# 31 .50 UNC

The "naira" is the Nigerian equivalent to the dollar (there being 100 kobo to the naira) but Nigeria has had some inflationary problems in recent years: there are currently about 130 naira to the US dollar, so that coin's "face value" has fallen to less than a cent - so it's only "worth something" to collectors like us. As the 1 naira is the highest denomination circulating coin in the Krause catalogue and hasn't been issued since 1993, it's safe to assume Nigeria is a country that doesn't use coins anymore - just banknotes.

I assume your coin looks like this?

The motto at the bottom reads "Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress". Sadly, Nigeria is one of those countries that has historically been sadly lacking in all four of those virtues.
