I was in the coin shop yesterday that I used to frequent. Had not been in there for a while as the original owner had passed away last summer. I was browsing through a Coin World mag. and noticed a second 92 CAM was found. I was amazed that there were only 2 found so far. Unless that info. was incorrect. The article was by Ken Potter I believe. I was present at the shop when the guy who found the first one came in with it. It was the raw coin at the time. I did not know much about it then but figured at the time it was a great find but did not realize how great. Not a big deal but thought it was neat that I was there on the first find. I got a chance to look at it anyway before it was sent out for the slab. The shop is Sterling Rare Coin in Sterling, Ma. I live two towns over from it. Time to find #3 :) Imagine the odds if found and brought back to the same shop again.

Hi, thanks for setting it straight. I did not think the first find guy was on this forum. But now I can put a name (Yours) to the article i read while at the shop. Congrats by the way ! I've heard of some women stretching the truth a tad about there age but men ? :)

Indian1 thanks for the congrats I was still a little waterlogged the first time I signed on to the forum and when they asked for my age, I thought they were talking about the amount of time I've spent underwater on a submarine. :):)

Oh, I see. I always thought I would enjoy being a submariner. Being from Mass. all my life and having visited all of New England as well as Groton over the years found sub's interesting. Was a little cramped but I wanted to ask if there were any crew that were 6'5" or taller ?

I'm still wondering what you're going to do with that coin? It's kind of like winning the lotto! LOL

Indian1 There are some, but very few crewmembers 6'5", and most leave the service shorter. I started out 28 yrs ago 5'11" now I'm 5'9 3/4" attribute some to walking hunched over all the time and some to bangibg my head and compacting the spine when I walked through the hatches. Since you are so close maybe we could do lunch some day and talk subs and coins.
BT coincollectingkid and all others that are wondering After many sleepless nights and lots of rolaids I have come to the conclusion that I love coin collecting, all aspects of the hobby, the research, finding new/rare specimens, filling my albums from change, cherrypicking dishonost dealers and the comraderie I've found on this website. I had even considered starting a business as a dealer when I retired. However my true passion lies in woodworking, and I have gotten to the point where coins are taking away from my craft. So I have decided that I will make an album with all the articles associated with this find and keep it with my other coin albums. As for the coin, after the first of the year(tax purposes) I will be auctioning it off. The proceeds will be used to help fund/supply my woodshop when I retire from the Navy.
This is where I will need help. I have absolutely no idea how to do this, where to do this, nor how much the coin is actually worth. Anyone with any insight on this would be appreciated.
Kie
PS The above kinda makes it sound like I will no longer be collecting, that is not the case just limiting to nights and early mornings when I can't make noise.

Kie,
A coin like that you'd want to action with a very high-end company at a major coin event. It would certainly be one of the headline coins.
