It can and does take years for 90% & below silver alloy coins in most cases but pure 999 silver is VERY reactive to the environment.

The 1954-S Wheatie has a little story behind it. I recently bought some 1930s Wheaties from a seller in Minnesota. After a few days he messaged me to apologize for not getting the coins in the mail, but it was about -30 and his truck wouldn't start.

He said he'd send me a few extra coins because of the delay. The 1954-S was one of them. After a bit of debating, I put it up on ebay for $15.50 and, to my surprise, it sold within two days.

I should have perhaps kept it, since it's so pretty, but I need to pay for my daughter's health insurance. RATS!
