It's been a treasureful day for me,and I'm thrilled.
first off I found a 1974 Canadian penny in my birthyear,
and then while browsing at an antique mall I stumbled
across a coin counter.I bought a 1926 quarter,and a 1929
Buffalo nickel. Not in the best condition, but beautiful
to me.Then my moms friend found out I was collecting coins
and brought me 5 rolls of wheat pennies many of which in
dates I didn't have,and a 2 dollar bill still like brand
new,not a crease or flipped edge anywhere on it.while
at the antique mall I noticed a 1909 penny there for sale
$70.00,and I almost got it but it had been cleaned. Was
this still a good deal? Thanks for reading my chatter.sn31

was the 1909 just a 1909 or was it a 1909-S or a 1909-S VDB ?

If the cent was a 1909-P ( no mint mark ) then 70.00 is exremely high since these can be bought for less than 50.00 in MS-65 RB

If it is either one of the other two ,, cleaned the price maybe in the ball park depending on the overall grade of the coin.

I believe it was just a 1909,who knows,
maybe I should have just bought it.It
may be awhile before I come by one again.

I dont recommend that you just buy anything !!!

the 1909 VDB is not a hard coin to find in MS grades at reasonable prices.

But the 1909-S and the 1909-S VDB are very expensive coins in all grades and should be looked at with a very decerning eye (especially raw) these coins have been very extensively counterfieted .

If in doubt its better to pass than buy a fake !!
