Acquired 3 more Morgans today.
1884-O EF
1900 AU
1902 EF
I got all three for $50. These were coins that I needed to fill in some gaps in my collection. They are a little DMPL except the 1900 has a lot of it's mint luster. I don't buy coins that have badly marked facial features. I'm happy! Although I have quite a few Morgans, I'm fairly new at collecting them for myself. Was this a good buy?

I sure hope so. I bought them from my local dealer and he goes right from the 2006 Red Book. I'm taking a much closer look at each coin to see if (in his haste) he missed something. Thanks!

Hi dsKing

The RedBook is a great resource book, and with the Silver prices doing what they are doing, you probly will come out ok on the price for the three Morgans .

at the time of printing the prices in the RedBook were however based on the highest retail of the coins,,

My Local dealer tried to use the RedBook prices on me a couple of weeks ago,, as far I know He still owns the coins I was interested in .

These coins were loose in his stock. Since he knows that I'm rather new at grading he asked me to look at the coins and to grade them. I took out my little 10 power and the above is what I came up with. He then handed me the Red Book. All three added up to $56 so we compromised on $50. However, we both missed the O on the 1884 and that was a nice surprise when I got home! tee hee I always like it when he's busy because he tends to say "ok" a little quicker. I'm very careful with this dealer (because he's a dealer) but, so far so good. He's always very helpful too! He knows that he has an addicted collector on his hands! :-0 He usually has his lttle Indians out right after I hit the door, but I keep him guessing. I think my interest in Morgans took him by surprise yesterday!
