Ok I have been collecting star notes for a while now, and I have about $40-$50 face value, they were all found in circulation but some are in crispy like new conditions and the rest are... USED. Some are part of the Low Run series.
They are taking too much space in my collection, can anyone give me an idea if it is worth selling them (Possibly here or on ebay), or is it better just to spend them?

All comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I would look up the bills on http://www.mycurrencycollection.com...s/lookup.php . Any that have more that a full run printed, so 3.2 million notes, I would probably spend unless they are minty fresh. If they have a low print run such as most 10 dollar star notes or first run San Francisco 2006 ones they I would put them up on ebay. If they are in really really good shape and rare I might send them in to get graded before I sell them cause you will get a little more. Also if they have a low number, at least 4 zeros to start, I would sell them on ebay. Hope this helps.

I would sell them all instead of spend them.

I would sell them all as one group lot. Maybe start the bidding at face + 10cents / note.

I just looked in my wallet and found $10 star note and from Siuol's post I can not figure out if it is a keeper. Well circulated with a run of 3200000 from 1999.

Thats kind of a tricky question. It depends on what FRB it is from. If it is Boston or New York, A or B, I would probably keep it cause both those FRBs only printed one run. Philly, C, had two runs, but the first was a partial containing only 320,000 notes so I would probably keep that one as well. Cleveland and Richmond, D and E, didn't print full runs so it can't be one of those. Atlanta, F, printed a bunch of runs some partial some not so if the bill falls within the range of the full runs, so 03200001 - 06400000 and 09600001 - 19200000, I would get rid of it unless it had some fancy number. Finally Dallas, K, printed 4 runs and all were full so unless the bill has a low number or a fancy number I would get rid of it. I hope this helps .

Today I had a run of luck with the stars. All 3 are rare, but not in the best of shape. still going to keep them though .

This twenty has a print run of 640000, and it wouldn't be in too bad shape if the marker wasn't on it. Also has a x on the back. Makes me want to punt the permanent marker wielder in the neither regions .
Star-Notes.

These next two ones both have a print run of 320000 but they could be in much better shape .

Star notes can get expensive and fast even at face value.
I don't pay a lot of attention to "print run" numbers personally but overall numbers printed. A print run of 320,000 is low for sure buut if a TOTAL of 1,280,000 of that particular star were printed it loses value in my opinion. Why? because not many people are collecting by print run.

I have my share of star notes believe me and I'll post a pic in another thread but I generally look for notss that have 640,000 or less printed PERIOD.
Due to this I spend a lot of star notes. Rarely keep one anymore. Ties up too much money.

I realize that the stars can tie up a lot of money and fast. However I look at it as sort of a way of saving money. I hold on to them for as long as I can and then if I need the money I will sell them off on ebay if I have the time, or I will just spend them. Its not like I'm losing money that way. I only keep the ones that have a print run of 640000 or less because I collect by them by the rare runs.

That having been said I found some more scarce stars tonight. 640000 printed of each .
