Is it fake? I think so...but if not, woo hoo!

Ok, have a look:

1733, ME, 8R on the one side.
ARVM, HISPANIA, SIE, TOIB on the other side.

1733---2-Reales---Fake???

1733---2-Reales---Fake???

Edge of the coin:

1733---2-Reales---Fake???

Obviously, some effort was involved....

Absolutely fake.

The "things" in the coat of arms look like graphics from the old Space Invaders video game.

I like the tentacled thing above the 8.
I'm sure you suspected this was a fake, so we're just kidding right?

I was confident that it was fake....just wanted SOME assurances... :D I found three originals for sale and they looked NOTHING like this one.

Wait until you see the other two I got form the same guy. (I just thought they were neat)

More than anything...I was wondering how these were made? They looked cheaply stampted out of a chunk of silver, not even a good solid blank "round".

There's no guarantee it's made of real silver. It'd need to be tested.

Agreed...what is the best way to go about testing? I haven't run into a coin of a dubious nature before...

Specific gravity would tell you if it possibly could be silver, but isn't as reliable an indicator of silver content as it is for gold. You'd probably need to do some kind of swab test with one of those silver-testing-kit things, unless you've got access to an XRF spectrometer.

If it were mine, I would assume it wasn't silver, until and unless I found some evidence otherwise.
