Hello all, I am new to this forum. I was looking thru some coins and came across this 1901 Indian penny and noticed that the one is split in half. Can someone tell me if this is an error coin and if it has value.
Thank you.

Can't see very much from your picture, if you can post a larger one it will help. Also we lie to see both sides of the coin. It could be and error or just post mint damage.

I enlarged this picture and appears like this coin has had alot of wear and tear. Are those black marks on the coin also? From what I could see of the blurred picture looks like mechanical damage of some sort on the 1. with echizento post a larger picture as it may be a die error when seen clearly.

Welcome to the forum! You are in good hands, so don't be bashful, about askimng questuions.
The coin leaves me with one qoestion: Do you mean "ONE". or "1"? I only see the rev, so the "1" is a mystery. If you are unsure about a picture host, tyr Photobucket.co. It is free, and very user-friendly.

I cannot see much from your photo so I don't know if it is an error. but about values, even if it is not an error, the lowest values for the apparent condition (looks like Very Good) would be $1.40 assuming it's from the 1900-1907 era. (that value is of 2000 though, I am in Canada and I don't have a 2009 value guide for US coins.) hope this helps! (and if you really think it's an error, you should get it certified.)
