I have researched it and found lots of info but never the exact coinor medal I think saxon origin with a leipzig mint mark it is Friedrick August Koenig Von Sachsen on the revers it says Liebeund Hoffnung I believe its called a Letton

Jim - I think the word at the bottom is Jetton - indicating it is a token or marker. They were produced and used for many different purposes as replacements for actual coins. They are also referred to as Gaming tokens or Reckoning counters. Most are Brass. They were made is literally huge numbers in the last half of the 1700s and first half of the 1800s.

I don't own any catalogs that list varieties so I have no idea if you have a rare one or not.

Jim,

the one you show is a rechenpfennig, a cointingtoken, used by money swappers who counted the german coins into a foreighn valuta.

i have several dozens of those, all differend, the Neurenbergische Rechenpfennige catalog has a few hundred pics of those tokens/coins/jetons.

The oldest in my own collection is from half way 1800, but as far as I'm told, the first known are from the 1600's.
