Hi can anyone help me? I have one of those 1797 cartwheel pennies had it lot of years and only just started reading up on them and I have come across it. Is a 1797 coin put when I've looked up on all the coins mine has something different on the front where picture of the man's face is, there has like some kind of box in middle then inside says RB in middle but everything else is the same, its identical apart from where it says rb not the man's face. Am puzzled, can any one help me on this, is it rare, is it worth anything? many thanks for your help.

G'day & welcome, it would be better if you can organize a photo or a scan of the coin. Please make pics of both sides. And tell us what is its diameter, and weight, please ? There were some varieties of the cartwheel penny, & tuppence of 1797; and then there were the halfpenny & farthing of 1799. Peter in Oz

There's an "uploading pictures" tutorial in the link over on the left hand side of the screen, under "Tutorials". Or, click here. As for your coin, from your description it sounds like an ordinary cartwheel penny that's been countermarked. Such marks were most often applied privately after the coins had left the mint. Here's a cartwheel penny that's been countermarked for use as a dock worker's pass. Whether or not your "RB" countermark makes the coin more valuable or less valuable depends entirely on whether the circumstances of the countermark are known. I'm not a countermark expert, so I can;t say for sure one way or the other.

G'day, look to the left of this screen, about level with your most recent post. There is a heading "Tutorials", and just below that "Uploading Photos" - click on that. Peter in Oz

There is a 100k file size limit when uploading directly to the forum. You can try uploading your photos or scans to photobucket or imageshack and posting the links in your post - here is a photobucket tutorial: https://goccf.com/t/53146

Well, it looks exactly like what Sap said... that sure doesn't look like George's head to me.
