tumbleweedtrumpet- Ah, a rather nice Spanish 5 Centimos. But you say that it still has some luster? That might be indicative of it having been cleaned at some point.

"Lustre" on the high points is a sign of relatively recent wear. Genuine lustre on copper coins is usually seen preserved on the low points, particularly protected areas like inside the letters and around the coat of arms and portrait.

thanks sap, learned a new one here, was also previously looking for over-all light reflection, now know where to look for lustre
