Hello,

ICCS has no entries for 1949 PL dollars in its most recent population report. But, a couple of times I have seen "ICCS 1949 PL Dollars" on ebay, once by a well known dealer who remarked there were none in (that years) population report. Is there some chance that ICCS occasionally mislabels MS 1949 dollars or is there another possibility you can see.

Thanks

Im not quite sure if they are being mislabeled, but this is a very common coin. As such I wouldnt dream of sending one in for grading unless it hit a MS grade.
I hope I get the jist of what you are suggesting.

Hi DOLLAR1948,

A 1949 MS dollar is very common, almost not worth submitting if it is not MS65 or better. But, ICCS (unlike PCGS) does not list a 1949 proof like dollar. If they verified 1 (or a few) they would be VERY valuable and marketable.

Thanks,

Steve

Ahhhh...I get ya now..
Thats an interesting fact you brought to light. I wonder why ICCS doesn't acknowledge a PL type grade. I'm going to try to read up about the specifics/release of this coin and see if I can come up with something.
Very good point tho...

This is one of my next coins on my to buy list for 2010. I'm interested in hearing more about this coin and the grading of it. I've seen some ICCS grades of MS65 AND MS66 and wondered why I wouldn't just buy a nice looking one that isn't graded. I've seen some nice ones so far on ebay.
