I'm wondering how my fellow roll searchers deal with their dumps ....

For Me ..... I live outside Baltimore, MD (USA) and have a checking account at a bank that has a free coin dump machine. I take all my reject nickels there. This bank charges a 5% fee for non-members to use the coin dump machine.

Alas for me ...... this bank is also the primary source of my new nickel boxes ..... so I suppose over time I am looking at coins that I have already dumped?

There are plenty of Coinstar machines around here .... but I have avoided them due to their service charge (8%?).

Sooooo ... tell us ....... how do you dump your roll search rejects?

David

I handroll them and turn them into the tiny Bank of America inside of a nearby Albertsons. Its never been a problem and the tellers never seem to mind.

I just re-roll them and take them back to the bank. I also put a small "X" on one end of the roll with felt tip pen so I can identify any that I've already looked through. Another collector in my small town puts a check mark on his, so I always ask the teller for a different roll if she gives me one with a check mark on it.

I dump them at TD Bank's free Penny Arcade. They take those to Brinks. I pick up at a different bank that gets Loomis rolls so I know I'm not searching the same stuff over and over.

I reroll mine, put an asterick on the wrapper and take them to my credit union within walking distance from where I work.

I pick up boxes from several different local banks and then dump them at a credit union. It is free with an account and deposits directly in savings or checking. I caught the guy that empties the machine at a restaurant and paid for his meal a week or so ago. He is always friendly and I thought I would just buy an extra insurance policy. Acts of kindness and knowledge sharing seem to go along way. At one of the banks where I pick up cents, the head teller has not seen all of the new Lincoln Cent designs. Today I will take her one of each of the four designs.
