My only two from roll had the tape marks too. I plan to get the petro one soon. I too have been puzzled by how crappy the red is on it. I dont remember the poppy's or pink ribbon being that bad, were they?

These are definitely 2 different dies used for this coin look closely at them and you will see a rib up the center and a rib up the center of the left part of the maple leaf and none up the right part of the maple leaf.

I also noticed the texture inside the ML. No doubt to help retain the paint on the coin.
The all-metal version is superior.

tim, though I can't say for sure, my guess would be that the other colored coins were less complicated to apply color to, having less angles and isolated areas. Presumably, the end result was better application of color. They weren't perfect though, I remember the poppy being slightly out of the "target", or being splotchy on some coins.

The RCM is a fairly state of the art mint, to me this is plain shoddy quality control and/or poor manufacturing methods.

I'm really hoping a mule turns up one of these days to spice things up a bit.

I bought a roll from RBC this afternoon and it had colour on one of the ends! I hope it's not *all* colour, though, or I'll feel pretty silly going back for more!

I got one today and it does not look much better than those seen already. There seems to be engraving or some type of marks all around the design. Is this common ?

They are poor quality [painted] but it makes for a nice low mintage piece.
