I made myself late for work this morning standing at the bank waiting for it to open at 9:30 this morning. Spent 10 minutes at the door looking through the window at all of the bank staff having a morning meeting.

Anyways, the doors opened I rushed in, picked up a roll and ran out. Got to work an hour late but hey, I got a roll.

Started pulling out the quarters one by one looking to see if there's a colored quarter. Got about 15 of them out on my desk now and found 1 colored quarter. I'll look for more tonight when I get home.

So, lunch time just passed and I took a moment to pull out a few more quarters from the roll.

I've noticed on the colored coins there seems to be a mark on them through the center of the coin that looks like it had tape or some sort of plastic on the quarter that's left a mark. I checked a second colored coin which had a similar mark but just not as noticeable. Is anyone else seeing this?

I got 10 rolls in Montreal at noon today and went through 3 rolls so far. I found 7 reds in the 3 rolls and can see only the 2 standard varieties (red and not-red).

Tape-like residue: yes, I have that on 2 reds. Also a greenish reflection near 9 o'clock on some of the reds (reverse side). Both issues I would attribute to colour stencils, which probably gum-up with ink and leave residues and may lead to other errors.

6 reds are probably MS-60 and one is a bit better maybe MS-62, similar to Men's Hockey where the extra handling of the reds destroys the coin...

I just picked up one at a Petro Canada service station I'll post a picture of it. It is the only one that I have but I am curious about what looks like a die chip just under the skate of the raised leg of the player on the right. Could someone with some of these coins confirm please or post a picture of one of yours.

The Canadian Mint put out three different coloured coins to commemorate three of Canada's greatest winter Olympic moments (Gold Metals)

I see the coloring process at the mint hasn't improved.

I checked my colored from a roll and it doesn't have the marks next to the blade. Here's a scan of a colored from a roll.

(I haven't figured out how to get a close up on my scanner yet - sorry.)

Are these two marks raised, or are they just "dents" that could be attributed to the less than careful handling the coloured ones received? Could they be gas bubbles?

If they are a variety, I don't think they're of the magnitude of the differences in the 2's on the last issue.

The coin is housed in a plastic card but when I tip the coin on an angle they look like 2 raised dots maybe die chips?

I don't know if there is a way of getting that plastic off without damaging the coin? Has anyone had success in removing these coins from packaging without damage to the coin?

I just got back from the RBC in south Surrey and got 4 rolls to search through the first coin was a plain coin the second was a coloured coin.
The first think I noticed was the two different die used again on the maple leaf is double lined on the plain coin and single line maple leaf on the coloured one.

To my eyes, it appears the red is applied by an ink-jet process.
If the coin elves cannot paint them better, best to leave the red off entirely.
