Hi guys. I picked up a 1918 King George threepence under the coinstar a few months ago. Do you think you could tell me what it's worth? - coincrazed

Got pics? Or an idea of the grade?

The coin is silver (0.04 ounces) so there is some value anyway. It must have been rejected by the coin counter and the person discarded it. Not too smart on their part.

No, I am very sorry xshift, I don't have a camera, but hopefully I will have one soon as tomorrow is my B-day. I have no idea how to grade it, but looking at my Blue Book coin guide general coin grading system,I would say it's VG+.The back is worn well, but the design is bold. The front has wear on the side of king George's head. If I get a camera, I'll get you all pics ASAP. Good luck. Merry Christmas. - coincrazed

Happy Birthday a day early! If I can find my book in all this mess, I'll get you some values in a few grades around VG.

UK 3 pence 1918,
Krause: Fine (lowest grade in the catalog), 40 US cents;
Coincraft: Very Fine (lowest grade in the catalog), 2 UK pounds.
Hint from Coincraft for 1918 threepence pieces: look out for overdates!

Happy Birthday!

Does it have the name of a country on it? If not, then it is British.

Never mind my previous post then. The Krause catalog gives a value of $1.75 for a 1918 Australian 3d in fine condition. Of course our Australian friends may have a different opinion about this.

The Australian guides list it at around $10 - $12 in Fine.
