i found this penny whilst looking through rools. I noticed this hole and wondered if it was a drill hole or a die error. I know the conditionn is very bad but any advice on value will help

yhanks I also found a 1886 t 2 indian head in that same roll

may not be a drill hole but definitely post mint damage. I know back in the old days they would nail a cent over the door way for good luck. Your coin doesn't look like it was drilled so maybe it was nailed to something or done with a nail anyway but mostly what I have seen done like this is large cents
