if I am not mistaken SuperDave used to have one of these cameras, not sure it was the same model but I know it was a Cannon and he knows more about the Cannon than anyone I know so maybe he will chime in on this specific model for you

I use one of these

It has the right options you need, however I have had problems trying to get the focus really really sharp. It takes great pictures, but if you look at 100% the image is sometimes not totally sharp. Would be fine for most things, but the problem is I always need to photograph slabs and that is where I am having trouble. The autofocus seems to focus on the slab, even when using face mode

I am a reasonably experienced photographer but a beginner when it comes to trying to image coins, so it could just be me. My friend from the states does much better images so I say go for it. Lots of the guys on the NGC forums use this camera and recommended it to me..

Also if you need tips or just a refresher course, here is Mark Goodman's site. Should be everything anyone needs to know, I learnt a lot here

Now I think about it, I'd probably have much better luck if I filled the viewfinder with the coin, not the slab..
