http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...RK:MESELX:ITThis is a true auction and a heck of a gamble for me! But what the heck the ride will be fun. Obviously not everyone is looking to spring for an MS64 S-VDB. But would you pay $1 for one? $100? $1000? You get the idea. All bids, even if they're unrealistic are very welcome in this auction. It gives my coin some action. If a member of Coincommunity is the winner I will throw in a surprise coin. Just let me know on here that you won the auction. The bonus coin will not be extravagant but it also won't be junk. Thank you for looking and good luck!

Nice coin! I'll drop in a bid but it would have to go cheap for me to buy it right now and I don't want you to sell it too cheap!

Quote: Hey, even if you bid $50 bucks thanks! I bid a whole lot more than $50, more like $2050. I just traded my '09-S VDB in PCGS MS63RB for 2 PCGS MS69 $50 bullion pieces, gold Buff and Platinum Eagle, so I might go a little higher on your Lincoln but not over $2500. P.S. I hope you get more than $2500 for it!

Ah, cool. Are those investments or or just pieces that you like?

They're investment pieces. I'm more of a collector/investor than anything. You might consider adding some Price Guide Values to your ebay auction (Coin Values, PCGS, Numismedia, etc). They are high end retail but may generate a high bid. Good Luck!

Aside from the coin being great, that is one of the best listings I have ever seen on ebay. It gives all the information you need and want, but it also puts you at ease about spending that much money. Well done.

Agreed ... it's a fine listing and I have no doubt the coin will sell for a fair price ....
That said ..... I expected to find a clear photo of the date/MM ..... you did show a detail of the V.D.B. ..... why no photo of the 1909-S?
Just a minor point .....
Best wishes with the sale
David

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately the pictures don't do the coin justice. I just started visiting a local coin dealer, and after spotting my listing he hinted that I might want to take it down unless I can take a better picture. He says he really wants it but I guess around here people there's no market for high end coins.
Picture a hunk of jade, make it a couple shades lighter and that will get you pretty close. I tried buying a HP 4050 scanner and I posted a couple pictures from that. They're probably the closest (color wise) but they're still not right. If anyone lives driving distance to Fayetteville, NC and is good with coin photography I would greatly appreciate it.

Wow! I've been watching another seller's MS64 RB. It sold for $3551.01! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...refresh=trueWith the colorful toning I think mine is nicer, but unfortunately it doesn't photograph well at all. His definitely has more red. I doubt mine will go for as much, but it gives me hope I can get the $2750 I was looking for.

Sold for $2551. I'm a bit disappointed because in-hand the coin could easily sell for close to $3K. None of the pictures I took were able to do the coin justice, and the pictures are everything. I should have been patient and waited until I had good photos, but that's OK. I didn't lose my shirt on the deal and I'm one step closer to completing my goal.
The money will be used to purchase a lower grade S-VDB, and I will be putting some more coins up for sale to finance an XF 22 plain.
Thanks to everyone who bid my auction!
