Winfield Scott Hancock was a Union General in the Civil War and was the Democratic nominee for President in 1880, defeated by Rutherford B. Hayes with an incredibly small margin of less than 2000 votes. William Hayden English, a career politician from Indiana, was his Vice-Presidential running mate. Report this Post to the Staff

This one on eBay has less gilding remaining than yours, and sold for $8.
