It's not a coin. It's a "rechenpfennig", also known as a jeton or counting token. From the style of lettering, this one's an older type, but the orb/rose type was used over a long period. Click here for some background on these items and scroll down to the "rose/orb" type for a similar example.

Right you are Sap on all counts. I finally found it now that you pointed me in the right direction. 1551 is the date that I came up with.
