I found these coins along with a about 500 or more mon coins that were my late Father in laws. He was a big collector of Japanese antiques and had a few featured Auctions at Igavel and Sotheby's. These were found after. I could not get them on this computer so I am putting link to photobucket

to the community.

These all appear to be fanasty pieces, made to look like Japanese 100 mon coins.

shurkahn- Yes, those certainly were not official coins from the Tokugawa period, but a few of those may possibly be much older (I really am not versed in Japanese coins before this period). Some really do look like fantasy pieces, but are probably quite old. Either way, those are really beautiful and fascinating.

I must admit that I would be curious to see some of the mon coins. Would it be possible for you to post a few pics of those?

Yes when I get back to the main computer I will upload some of the mon coins. I do have one on ebay right now a 100 mon with Honza mint mark. That coin was already researched and labeled. That is why I know what mint mark

shurkahn- Those are some very nice bronze mon! I must admit that I am not familiar with the varieties, which mainly consist of differing numbers of waves on the reverse.

I also have never seen larger 100 mon coins of this type. These may be fantasy pieces, or maybe they are something quite esoteric that I have yet to be exposed to. Either way, I look forward to seeing what others say in response to these.
