What Do You Know About 2006 Silver Eagle

2006 was the first year of production for the Uncirculated(burnished finish) W mintmark Silver Eagles. It was available in the three coin Silver 20th Anniversary Set(250,000), the two coin Gold and Silver Eagle 20th Anniversary Set(50,000), and it was sold individually as well(200,000) for a total mintage of 450,000. There is no visual difference in the W burnished Eagles sold across all three options, the original packaging is the only difference. If you submitted the entire two or three coin set for grading in a sealed Mint shipping box, you could have received the special 20th Anniversary label whereas any W Eagles submitted individually or in an unsealed set received the standard TPG label. IMO, there is no reason to pay a premium for a 2006 W burnished Eagle with a 20th Anniversary label unless you plan on completing a set of the coins all with the Anniversary label.

I bought 20 of these from the mint for 100.00 a set they weren't graded but most at least graded MS/PF-69. I have no idea what they are worth graded but I do know they sell for around 300.00 in OGP now. the only coin you couldn't get separately from the 20th ann. set was the Reverse proof, you could buy the Proof and the Burnished Uncirculated individually and in order to get the 20th anniversary label on the slab you had to ship it to the grading company in the sealed mint box
