Hey folks, new here. I've got some coins that my Grandpa gave me when I was a kid (like 30 years ago or so) and I've always just kept them in a box. well, I was cleaning out the drawer that they sit in and thought that maybe I could find something out about them.

They are coins that have the Canadian province sheild on one side, and on the other side is the respective provincial flower. Any ideas as to what these coins were for and whether they are worth keeping around? I can post pics if necessary.

I also have a few other coins that, on one side have a picture of the House of Commons and on the other side are different past Prime Ministers. Again, just wondering if anyone knows what these coins are and if they are worth keeping. Pics available if needed.

Cheers and thanks for the help.

Hi Ryan, it sounds to me you have a collection of medals which were given to customers who filled their tank with gas at Shell service stations in the 1960's and possibly 70's. They are mostly a gold colour with no denomination about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Are they like these?
Not-Sure-What-These-Coins-Are... Not-Sure-What-These-Coins-Are...
I bought a half-set of them here in Australia at a coin club auction, though I found one in a dealer's scratchtray in Canada back in the 1980's. I knew they were a product of the 1960's or 1970's but didn't know by whom or why they were issued. I assumed they had something to do with the centennial in 1967.

Yes, some years had the provincial buildings, some years they had Prime Ministers and for this one which must have been 1967 they had provincial crest and flowers. Very little monetary value.

WOW! that's them alright! I knew i'd be able to find out about them online. God bless the forums!! hahah!

So not really worth anything then eh? I've got quite a few of them, just never knew if they were worth anything or not. So not much point in putting them on ebay or trying to sell them to folks like yourselves then I guess. oh well.

Thanks so much for the info tho, if anything, I've always just been curious as to what the heck they were! LOL

Thanks again.
