This 1993 $50 from the Standard Bank of Hong Kong lasted for 9 years but its initial year is a little less common then the later versions (with the exception of the 1996/97 versions). It is P-286a & shows much nicer than it scans:

I've just come back from a vacation in South Africa and I've added a set of their new notes to my collection. There are new security features. Nelson Mandela remains on the obverse but the 'Big Five' illustrations on the reverse have been changed so they now depict both adult and young animals. 10 rand: 20 rand: 50 rand:

Congrats to these additions to your collection. The complete set. How would you grade the condition of the notes. Unc or aUnc? Lower?

Quote: How would you grade the condition of the notes. Unc or aUnc? Lower? I was able to get nice UNC 10R, 50R and 100R notes that came straight out of fresh tellers' rolls. The 20R and 200R are EF to AU with a few creases. I found more new 20R notes than any other denomination, but never managed to get an UNC one!

At least you got them for face value only. Quote: I found more new 20R notes than any other denomination, but never managed to get an UNC one! Interesting.

Really lovely additions (I love the new designs) NumisRob! Its funny that when you posted your new set I was looking for the older (first editions) of some of their first animal series. I need to fill in some gaps (like P-129 & 130): (Need P-138 & 140) Great score on your travels. I only managed to get a 20 & 50 Baht in UNC on my travels to Thailand (all other denominations were well worn). I found the same in the Philippines (just a few denoms in good shape).
