While I don't actually collect world notes, I have a few from countries I've worked, traveled or lived in. Occasionally I add to that little stash, and I just got a nice group of notes from a fellow member of a paper money forum (and he's also a member here). The first are two one pound notes from Scotland. Though the notes were still supposedly in circulation when we lived there, I don't recall ever getting one in change. We lived in The Netherlands when they transitioned from the guilder to the euro, but while I kept a large number of coins I evidently didn't hang onto a single pre-euro note! Now I have one, a ten gulden note. The other note in this pic is a one pound note from Nigeria. I traveled on business to Lagos and Port Harcourt a number of times over the years and I do have a nice selection of naira notes, but I found this older pre-naira note interesting. While I never lived nor traveled to Oman, I did run several projects for the Shell office in Muscat. I have several notes given to me by colleagues, but I didn't have examples of either of these denominations. Finally, Germany was not only a country we traveled to regularly on vacations when living in Europe, but is also the country where many of my ancestors on both my mom's and dad's side originated from. I love all three of these notes, especially the post-WWI note issued at the beginning of the period of hyperinflation of the German mark.

Thanks, hfjacinto! Don't worry about Portugal - I've never traveled there. Yet...
