Can anyone tell me what the current rate for junk silver is...ie, how many times face value given the recent drop in the price of silver?

Right around 11.8 X face for 90%. Also,90% halves command a premium, and for the last couple months they have traded for 13 X on average.
Sunday 1/24/10 I sold some 40% halves and found a buyer that paid 4.9 X face, or $2.45 ea.
Sure, you will find buyers way under melt, but if you shop around, melt price is possible.

Of special interest to me .... at today's spot price for silver .... my war silver Jefferson's have a melt value of 93 cents each.

Yeh thanks JJ, I too have bookmarked that one. I will be using it to daily price my rolled silver prices in the "Want To Sell" section.

take a good look at it guys....even has a calculator for some of the foreign coins, like can and mex. I just had a guy tell me that my junk silver coins weren't worth more than 5 times face.....now I can tell him to go bother someone else.
