Go to https://www.yeoldcoinshop.com to see the picture.

The back is blank. I tried to load it here and have been unsuccessful...in fact, lost all of the text I previously typed will make this brief.
This is a 1776 ten pound indebtedness apparently to finance the Revolutionary war. The note is buff. The edges are rough and it has been creased down the middle which has a little tear there. I believe it is original. Of course, I'd like to know what it is worth should I decide to part with it. Comments please.

This is a Friedberg SC-99. The motto, ET DEUS IMNIPOTENS translates as "And Almighty God." 40,000 of these notes were printed. Has the note been backed (attached to another piece of paper? It's great that all five signatures remain clearly visible. The primary reference for this material, Eric P. Newman's The Early Paper Money of America(Fifth Edition), lists these as $500 in VG, $750 in Fine, and $1000 in VF. However, you're likely to get closer to roughly half of those prices.

For more information, you can also look at auction archives, including the Heritage Auctions currency archives.

Thank you very much. I didn't have the reference book to check on this. No, it hasn't been backed. I am excited that it is worth this much though I have no idea who potential buyers might be. Thanks again. You obviously know your "stuff."
