Hello: I found this in the Bahamas metal detecting and can't find it in any coin books I looked at. It is just a little smaller than a U.S. quarter and half as thick, above 1890 is 1/4 but a bit hard to see in photo. Odd symbols on both sides too. Any assistance to shed light on this find is welcomed. Thx

P.S I am new here and wrote up a longer post but it seemed to disapear when I uploaded the photos, not sure what I did wrong.

bahamas- Very interesting. I am not quite certain what it is, but it does kind of remind me of some revolutionary currency from Mexico from around the 1820s. Since the date is much later, this may be some sort of token issued in the Bahamas during the late 19th century. I'll have to dig through my books a bit more to give you any real info on this coin.

Thank you for the assistance. I am a bit puzzled over it's origin.

Yes, that is it for sure. I found another two coins on the web too but also the year of 1820 and nothing for 1890. So I looked closer at the coin I have and discovered it reads 1820 and not 1890 as I had thought all along. Thank you so much. Mystery solved!! http://www.pdxcoinclub.org/gallery/...allery6.html
