Hello $48, I feel your PAIN! I had a real bad experience last month. In the January 13, 2010 Heritage Signature Auction I won an I.C.C.S., 1912, MS-64, Canada quarter for the total sale price of appr. $1,100.00 U.S. (buyers premium inc.) I received the coin via FedEx appr. 2 weeks later. Low and behold I got slammed with a $170.00 Can. $ customs invoice, payable on delivery! I cried for two days, I'm better now, but I feel your pain.
Glenn.... do yourself a favor and check if you actually agreed to have fedex do the clearing for you......they do charge for it ... hefty.. and they have in their small print( you sign when you receive it) that YOU gave them PA to act on your behalf with customs.....when they actually do not have a prearranged PA..... happened to me, I complained, they waived their fee... not the GST payable. I pushed them after that and they sent a code for a free shipment.... they walk on thin ice...
