Very nice!

My OCD is telling me that I must find a 1974-S in OGP, graded by NGC as PF68 CAMEO!
You most definitely need to get that 1974 to complete your OGP brown set.

My grandfather has a large collection of irregular Ikes - different types, die clashes, islands to the left, low relief, etc.

I have some questions about some peg legs. I was told to post it in a different spot so I am trying this. I did not get any responses on my last posting.

cjspearsdog,

Not too sure what your questions may be about PegLegs.
But here is a Great Primer on the subject from the the Ike Group
You might want to give it a read and if you still have questions
about PegLegs I am sure that someone will try to answer it here
The people here are some of the most knowledgeable people I know
on the subject of Eisenhower dollars.
Right along with the people at the Ike Group.

I hope this helps.

Terry

P.S.

Hey Guys 100 Pages, Wow, who da thunk it? This is very cool.
In looking back over this thread, there is almost an entire Book
of knowledge on the subject of Eisenhower dollars right here
in one thread. Just goes to show that collaboration goes a long way

I was just trying to get a conformation on the coins I have pictured. I am not the greatest at identifying errors and varieties. My eyes are not the greatest and I only have a 20x loop. Thanks for the link, I have read that page several times and that is why I pulled these three coins.

One of those Wow IKES when in hand...

Barely won this on ebay last week..."Serif" R...seller did not post pics of reverse, so, most buyers let it fly...crappy online pics showed some notching, I had hoped.....matches DDO-O29, ARED, page 101-102..reverse lacks dot in O, but, methinks this is an EDS strike, ARED is LDS, with more polishing between W-E in WE, against mine....we'll see.......radical heavy notching obverse, LIBERTY, IGWT, Date, with radical "highlines", especially on R in LIBERTY...sending out for attribution..will update when it returns..besides a FS-106 I have owned, this is THE strongest DDO I have encountered to date. Anyone owning a DDO-O29-O30, feel free to chime in.

An Ike Proof that I purchased several years ago.

I would reckon that it's the most perfect coin that I own.

Has anyone seen information about how many 40% silver Ikes have been melted during the recent run up in silver and the 1980 runup? I would imagine the best guess would be by someone who worked in in wholesale buyer operation or like a refiner.

I doubt many were melted. The refining costs on 40% silver are crazy high and erode margins quickly. I'd feel extremely confident in saying that less than 2% were probably melted.
